Dr. Paigean Jones is a licensed psychotherapist, registered yoga teacher, and certified perinatal mental health provider dedicated to holistic healing. Guided by Audre Lorde’s wisdom that “caring for yourself is not selfish,” she integrates mindfulness-based approaches with traditional therapy to support personal growth and resilience.

Dr. Jones earned her Ph.D. in Social Work from Howard University, where her research focused on Black women’s experiences with mindfulness during the perinatal period. Her work explores maternal health disparities, gendered racism, and the mental well-being of Black women.

As the owner of Look Aligned, she specializes in mindfulness-centered psychotherapy, offering a compassionate space for healing. In addition to her clinical practice, she is an experienced educator, teaching social work courses and fostering conversations on mental wellness.

Committed to advocacy and service, Dr. Jones is an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., where she works on initiatives supporting women's health and social justice. She also provides services through the Georgia Fund for Perinatal Mental Health, ensuring access to care for those in need. Through her work, she empowers individuals to embrace self-care, healing, and transformation.

Certifications and Specialized Trainings

  • A specialized certification focused on understanding and addressing the unique mental health needs of individuals during the pregnancy and postpartum periods. This certification equips professionals with the knowledge and skills to support those navigating the emotional, psychological, and physical challenges that can arise during these life transitions. It emphasizes a comprehensive approach to mental health, taking into account the profound changes that occur during pregnancy, childbirth, and the early months of parenthood.

  • A powerful, trauma-focused therapeutic approach that helps clients process and release deeply stored emotional pain and trauma. It works by identifying and processing “brainspots”—specific eye positions that connect to unprocessed trauma or emotional pain. Through this method, clients can access and heal areas of the brain that are often difficult to reach with traditional talk therapy alone.

    The benefits of Brainspotting include:

    • Targeted Healing: By focusing on specific brainspots, this technique helps to release trauma that may be causing anxiety, depression, or other mental health struggles.

    • Emotional Regulation: Brainspotting allows for emotional release and regulation, helping individuals feel calmer and more grounded.

    • Deep Healing: Unlike surface-level therapies, Brainspotting targets deeper, unconscious memories and emotions, enabling long-lasting transformation.

    • Reduced Stress and Trauma Response: It can help alleviate physical and emotional symptoms related to past trauma, such as flashbacks, triggers, and heightened stress levels.

Overall, Brainspotting offers a safe, effective method for healing deep-seated trauma, leading to emotional clarity, peace, and improved mental well-being.

  • In my practice, I integrate yoga to promote mental and emotional well-being through mindfulness, breathwork, and movement. By combining mindful breathing and physical postures, clients reduce stress, regulate emotions, and improve self-awareness. Yoga helps create a deeper mind-body connection, fostering relaxation, clarity, and emotional balance. The practice also empowers individuals to manage anxiety, trauma, and tension, supporting holistic healing and personal growth. Whether through individual sessions or group classes, yoga is an essential tool for nurturing both mental health and physical well-being in a compassionate, healing environment.

  • A research-based, evidence-driven approach designed to strengthen relationships by focusing on the emotional bonds between individuals. EFT is particularly effective for couples and individuals dealing with relationship distress, as it helps people understand, express, and respond to emotional needs more effectively. By exploring core emotions and fostering secure attachment, EFT works to break negative interaction patterns and create healthier, more supportive connections.
